CAN I BRING MY DOG TO EITHER OF YOUR PROPERTIES?

Unfortunately, we only welcome dogs to The Castle House, as this is the only one that is fully geared up to welcome them.  The Corner House does not have any outside space for those all important late night potty visits, so felt that it wouldn't be fair on either of you.  We also get a large number of guests who have allergies, so felt it only fair to keep one property pet free, so that we can cater for everyone.

CAN I BRING MY XL BULLY BREED DOG?

Yes, you're very welcome to come along with any breed of dog, we don't discriminate here!  All we ask is for you to provide us with a copy of your Exemption Certificate and valid Third Party Liability Insurance.

DO YOU HAVE ANY PARKING AT YOUR PROPERTIES?

The Corner House, being in the very heart of the Old Town, does not have it's own dedicated parking space.  However there is parking (both free and chargeable) very close by.  We also provide a list of parking places as part of our welcome email.  Once parked though, everything is within very easy walking distance, as we're literally surrounded by brilliant places to eat, drink, visit and shop and the beach is a five minute saunter away.

The Castle House does have it's own, off street parking, which will (snugly) accommodate 2 cars, there is also ample on street parking if need be though.  We also have a 7kw electric vehicle charging point, so no more range anxiety when staying!

DO YOU HAVE A FULLY SECURE GARDEN AREA AT THE CASTLE HOUSE?

We would never suggest that any property is completely 'secure' (and always shake our heads when I see places being advertised as such), however, our garden is fully enclosed (with no gates, the only access is from the house) and all of the fences are well over 5ft tall (I reckon about 5 1/2ft tall, at least, as I can't see over them (I'm 5'4") but hubby just about can (he's 6' 1")).

CAN I LEAVE MY DOG ALONE IF WE WANTED TO GO OUT WITHOUT THEM?

We request that dogs are never left alone in the property.

MY DOG LIKES TO SLEEP IN THE BEDROOM/BED WITH US, IS THIS OKAY?

We understand that your little woofers are part of the family, so if they sleep in the bedroom or in bed at home, then they'll want/need to do it when they're on their holidogs, so we have no problem with that.  All we ask is that you bring your own bed linen, as we hire ours and they are very strict on pet hair/dander etc..  Equally, we have no problem with them snuggling up on the sofas, as long as you either use one of our throws, or bring some with you.

CAN I OBTAIN A SCRATCH CARD PARKING PERMIT FOR THE CORNER HOUSE?

Short answer, yes.  However, the majority of the places covered by these scratch cards are on the West Cliff, in the streets around the whalebones (and, if you scratch off the wrong section, they'll act like you've committed high treason!).  When our guests realise this, they have tended to purchase a discounted parking permit from the Tourist Information Centre instead, which allows them to park in the long stay car parks, which are a lot closer to us (they can also be used in the other Council long stay areas around the Scarborough District too, which is a bonus!).  Therefore, honestly, we haven't bought any for a while, as they don't have a long use by date on them and we've ended up throwing them away.  We're always monitoring this though and if we thought there was enough interest, we'd start to purchase them again.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING FOR OUR DOG?

We supply dog towels, throws, toys, holiday collar tags, a spare lead, poop bags, bowls, an outdoor tap with spray attachment and a section on our welcome document outlining great walks straight from the door.  We don't really have room for crates and dog beds though, sorry.

WE RAW FEED OUR DOG, DO YOU HAVE A FREEZER?

We only have a small freezer compartment within our under counter fridge but this does have a 15L capacity, so holds more than you'd think!

IF WE GET TO THE CASTLE HOUSE EARLIER THAN OUR CHECK IN TIME, COULD WE USE THE DRIVE?

Yes, that shouldn't be a problem but do check before setting off, in case we have some last minute maintenance planned.  Unfortunately though, as soon as your stay with us is over, you will need to remove your car, as our cleaners and gardener will need to be able to get to us.

IS THERE SOMEWHERE I CAN PARK TO DROP OFF MY LUGGAGE AT THE CORNER HOUSE?

Yes, we're very fortunate in that there is a free, 1hr parking bay directly outside the house, which is perfect for dropping off your luggage.  There is also Grape Lane itself or the turning area to the side of it, which can be utilised but YOU MUST BE SEEN TO BE LOADING/UNLOADING AT ALL TIMES and you will need to move as soon as you're finished.

HOW FAR AWAY FROM THE TOWN CENTRE IS THE CASTLE HOUSE?

We're just under a mile from the Town Centre and there are a number of ways to get there, either by walking, booking a taxi (the vast majority are dog friendly), or walking up the road to the Park & Ride (from Easter to November) and catching a bus!

WE'RE COMING TO A WEDDING AT SNEATON CASTLE, HOW FAR AWAY FROM THERE ARE YOU?

There is no holiday accommodation (other than the one owned by Sneaton Castle) which is closer to them than The Castle House!  We're literally opposite the entrance to their driveway!  If you're looking to stay with dogs too, we can provide a list of dog sitters, since we don't allow them to be left alone.  Please enquire as soon as you book for this though, as they're very popular and get booked up a long way in advance.

I AM A BLUE BADGE HOLDER, IS THERE ANYWHERE I CAN PARK NEAR THE CORNER HOUSE?

Yes, the free 1hr parking bay right outside the house can be used by blue badge holders to park for as long as you like.  There is also a small number of disabled bays located to the left hand side of the turning area next to us.
